The Anomalies

Editorial book on the theme of air-travel anomalies, hand-bound.

2019
A publication looking at the significance of numbers in relation to aircraft disasters and anomalies, with the aim of easing the fears of passengers and giving them a new understanding of the statistics involved through the use of infographics inserts.

'The Anomalies' is divided into three chapters - Departed, Delayed and Saved - and examines some of the most famous crashes, disappearances and near-misses involving airplanes of all time. This brief was definitely my most challenging yet, as I pushed myself to try and translate numbers and statistics into a form that everyone could understand. It was bound using a Kettle Stitch bind to symbolise the complex inner structure of planes, and contained within a hand-made aluminium box, representing the protective structure of a black box as a surviving documentary of plane crashes.
